Calling all High School and College students for the 2013 Urban Journalism Workshop!

DFWABJ will present its 24nd annual Urban Journalism Workshop for high school and college students at Lincoln Humanities and Communications Magnet, 2826 Hatcher Street, beginning in February 2013.
This 12-week workshop is open to students in Dallas, Tarrant, Ellis, Collin and Denton counties. Students receive hands-on experience working with seasoned professionals who have gained a reputation locally and nationally, as well as internationally.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black Journalists recently hosted their 2nd annual Fall Mixer at the Iron Cactus in downtown Dallas. Many professionals in the industry, students and seasoned media veterans networked and celebrated NABJ's 35th Anniversary.

The "Journos go to Frisco" forum featured a panel of artists and radio stations discussing the legislation being considered by the US Congress that would require stations to pay artists a performance fee for playing their music. Thanks for all who attended the "Fair or Foul" sports forum hosted by The Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black Journalists on February 9, 2010 at Harwood 609 Restaurant on 609 North Harwood Street in Downtown Dallas, Just in case you missed it, check out part one and part two of the event featuring sports journalists and guest panelists, including KKDA's Chris Arnold, Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Senior Writer Clarence Hill, 411 Sports & Entertainment Publisher Cedric Lyons, Dallas Weekly's LaToya Hardaway, The Home Team DFW's Channing Curtis, and businessman and freelance journalist Thom Bailey. The panel also featured perspectives from Dr. Murray Fortner, chair of the sociology/psychology department at Tarrant County College.
