STANDING COMMITTEES
Scholarship
It shall be the duty of the Scholarship Committee to raise funds for scholarships to minority students; identify and select scholarship winners and plan and host an annual event for the awarding of scholarships.
Jobs/Internships
It shall be the duties of the Jobs/ Internships Committee to maintain the job line, job referral network and develop and identify internship opportunities at area media outlets.
Publicity
It shall be the duty of the Publicity Committee to maintain a newsletter, oversee maintenance of a website and chapter list serve and issue news releases.
Community Action
It shall be the duty of the Community Action Committee to act as liaison between DFW/ABJ and the community in an effort to organize and sponsor media access workshops; coordinate a Speaker’s Bureau and Town Hall meetings with the community.
Media Monitoring/Issues Committee
It shall be the duties of the Media Monitoring/ Issues Committee to monitor the local media for discrimination and other injustices to Blacks in their coverage and media employment practices. It shall report to the board of directors and the membership issues of concern for consideration. All correspondence must be approved by the board of directors and signed by the president of DFW/ABJ and the Committee chair.
Fund Raising
It shall be the duties of the Fundraising Committee to coordinate special events and fundraising affairs that generate a profit.
